On December 11, 2009, Pontiac Police Officer James Tate suffered a stroke in his home and was hospitalized for three weeks. It may take up to a year to recover.

James started at the PPD in May of 1999 and was laid off twice in less than six months in 2007. He was called back to duty in September of 2009.

Due to these layoffs, James lost all of his sick time and vacation time, leaving him to start over once he was called back.

James has a wife and eight children who need his support and without an income that is impossible.

This fundraiser is to offset medical costs and lost wages during James' recovery.
