CRAZY DREAMS BAND: Vocalist Lexie Mountain makes solo musics, with releases on Nautical Almanac's label Heresee and UK CDR label Chocolate Monk. She started and performs with the all-female a cappella collective performance thing Lexie Mountain Boys. Drummer Nate Nelson is a member of Mouthus, former member of Religious Knives and the solo musician Afternoon Penis. Guitarist Jorge Martins used to play in a duo called Fish & Sheep in his home town of Lisbon. Bassist Jake Freeman travels the country and is a regular American collaborator with Ruins. Ecstatic Peace released a Crazy Dreams Band limited edition cassette "Basement Tapes". "War Dream" will be Crazy Dreams Band's second release for Holy Mountain Records. Crazy Dreams Band permeates their massive second album War Dream with heaviness, psychedelia, pomp and grit. This rock music is refractory and satisfyingly off; put on a slide and manipulated and projected on a screen, or felt through a chain-link fence while stamping on peanut shells. Lost love, genocide and forgotten histories collide with raw-dog vocal thundering, slippery bass frequencies, adventurous percussion and ridiculously seductive guitar ripples. Opener "Feels So Good" is a swirling dirge that could be a half figured out version of "Carouselambra" acknowledging the Dionysian option. "Awkward for Everyone" showcases recent addition Jorge Martins of Lisbon duo Fish & Sheep; with guitar playing reminiscent of a deflating blow up Les Paul copy that actually has strings, you've got to hear the killer solo! It's, like, far-out and punk and sounds like it would go down real well with what we think bikers like. "Melanie" sounds like Lexie is racing Peter Ivers down a hole to see who can get to the weird scenes inside the goldmine first. The sidelong "Life is the Knife" is like a kind of secret ritual that they never showed in an unreleased Billy Jack sequel like the one where he went back to Vietnam and built a temple that bled the purest opium. Here, Jake Freeman's adventurous sub-frequencies and Nick Becker's saucy space wanderings shine on to break the dawn in half.

With DRUID PERFUME and WICCANS (Aran Ruth and Kelly Jean Caldwell).

This show is at PJ's LAGER HOUSE, 1254 Michigan Avenue, Detroit. Three blocks east of Michigan and Trumbull and two blocks West of MGM Grand.
