Hailing from the Metro Detroit area, SQUID THE WHALE is a progressive pop-rock four-piece that brings originality, talent, and above all, fun into their music. Formerly touring under the name "No, Really!", the band has caught the attention of a wide array of people through their self-released EP and previous tours of the East Coast and Midwest with bands such as 1997 (Victory Records) and A Love Like Pi (Thriving Records). With influences gathered from multiple genres and from such bands as Gatsby’s American Dream, My American Heart, and even local friends, The Weakend, the band has managed to forge a unique twist on what is currently circulating the air waves while still maintaining a sense of freshness to reach out to a wider audience.

Squid the Whale is a hard-working band that keeps the DIY mentality alive. From doing a majority of their design work to even booking their own tours, the band has a relentless spirit that shows no sign of stopping. With the mindset of “you only get what you put in,” Squid the Whale puts forth an exceptional amount of effort to achieve their main goal: to have their music heard.
