Sprung from the age old divine pairing of acoustic guitars and bottles of booze, CITY YARDS express youthful exuberance side by side with mature and ever-maturing vigilance. These gentlemen began an endeavor that remembers what it was like to be young, and captures the spirit of growing up while squashing ideas of ever growing old. Bless your heart, Punk Rock, your future is wide open. Now welcome the City Yards to your hospitable bosom.

Founding members Brent Mosser and Colin Floyd decided one night that playing punk rock simply doesn’t have an age cap. Since when are power chords, finger points, energy, fun, and thoughts of revolution youth-specific? Colin and Brent were both children of the suburban Detroit punk and hardcore scene contemplating the idea of age 30 being the nearest milestone on the horizon. Their natural musical connection made what would become City Yards an obligation to themselves, and perhaps more importantly – an obligation to their 16 year old selves.

With the line-up set in stone, the 3 men have reached a point where they can have an open and honest dialogue about their musical choices and plans for the future creating what Mosser describes as a musical “Romance” of sorts that they plan to share with the world as long as the world continues to share back. They currently have a number of demos that can be found via myspace and are in the process of writing and recording new tunes that are slated to drop in the next few months.

The songs these fellas are making act like a motivational speech, a battle cry, and a bro hug – rounded out with a drunken night of debauchery. This is music to think to, music to reminisce to, music to skateboard to, and music to live to. City Yards are a punk rock project that puts all preexisting pretense aside and asks the world whether or not they remember how to have fun, and if so – What are you doing right now?
