Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a rock musical about a fictional rock and roll band fronted by an East German transgender singer. The text is by John Cameron Mitchell, and the music and lyrics are by Stephen Trask. The musical premiered in 1998 and has been performed throughout the world in hundreds of stage productions. It has gathered a devoted cult following similar to that of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.. Hedwig and the Angry Inch tells the story of fourth-wall smashing East German rock 'n' roll goddess, Hedwig Schmidt. The outrageous and unexpectedly hilarious story is dazzlingly performed by Hedwig in the form of a rock gig/stand-up comedy routine, backed by the hard-rocking band "The Angry Inch". Focusing upon Hedwig's lifelong search for the "origin of love" and her other half, the story's explosive finale explores the nature of identity in a superficial celebrity obsessed modern society. The music is steeped in the androgynous 1970s glam rock era of David Bowie(who co-produced the Los Angeles production of the show), as well as the work of John Lennon and early punk godfathers Lou Reed and Iggy Pop.

It was announced on March 31, 2010 by NY Post columnist Michael Riedel that a revision of Hedwig would open on Broadway in fall 2010 starring John Cameron Mitchell in the role he created 12 years previous.

The Circus Earth/Crofoot Production will star Scott Dambacher in the role of Hedwig.

Michigan native Scott Dambacher has played Berger in several sold out European tours of The American Tribal-Love Rock Musical HAIR. Directed by Co-author James Rado and staged by Joe Donovan. He starred in the Off-Broadway New York City and the original Detroit productions of Tony and Tina's Wedding where he played Michael Just, ex-boyfriend of the bride and Donny Dolce, the sultry lead vocalist of the wedding band. He was most recently seen as Hedwig in the critically acclaimed production at the Lexington Music Theatre and co-starred with Detroit performance artist Satori Circus in the rock musical Funy as Hell at the same venue. Scott is also the lead vocalist for the New York rock group THE STONED.

Another Michigan native, velvet voiced Brit Byers will co-star in the role of Yitzahk. Brit has most recently been performing in the Southern music scene of Charlston and Savanna with her bands MEXICO ELECTRIC and JITTER BUG AND RAIN.

Sadaat Hossain will act as Music Director/piano/guitar/vocals. Sadaat has been playing music for almost as long as he has been alive. Starting on piano at the age of 4, he taught himself the guitar, drums, and the bass guitar, playing in various other rock and jazz outfits. Currently involved with folk-rockers the Juxtaposers, he also switches between piano and guitar with the Poltroons. He also has a degree in Music Technology from Wayne State University. Sadaat’s band the Poltroons will comprise the Angry Inch. Lee Galbraith-lead guitar, Ryan McInnis-bass and Nathan Dauphnais on the drums.
