Members of the suburban Detroit-based indie rock act the SILENT YEARS were all close friends in school, and formed the group in the early part of the 2000s. They started to perform thier wistful music and poignant lyrics in venues around the area. The band built up such a following in Detroit, they broadened thier fan base with an impressive performance at South by Southwest in 2006. The group- Josh Epstein, Pat Michalak, Mike Majewski, Cassandra Veras, Ryan Clancy and Ryan Trager self-released a seven-song debut in early 2006, STAND STILL LIKE A HUMMINGBIRD, and a self-titled full-length on the No Alternative imprint followed that October.
