JAILBOX originated in 2006 with Andy Tanz, Sam & Cody Schenck, under the jocular pseudonym, Tredsafe Restricted. The band performed tunes that are currently circulating in Jailbox today, but decided to alter settings in the spring of 2009 when Joseph Bassa joined the group. With a much needed fourth member, initially Jailbox has been able to enhance their live performance and develop self-production to the level required to progress forward as a band. Out of the same vein, in the winter of 2010, Jailbox further expanded its artistic faculty with the addition of Aaron Essner, pianist / drummer / percussionist.

Through influences such as Radiohead, The Police, and Wilco, Jailbox has fashioned itself into an original yet devout sound, who thrives on the traditional cornerstones of songwriting. This innovation presents itself as a testament to a simplistic foundation of amaranthine, opposed only by a current market of unsatisfying robotic noise. Thus, Jailbox acquires listeners through authenticity and honesty of song, within a personal sonic reality.

Jailbox’s debut, One for Each of Us, was self-produced, independently recorded, and self-released on April 23rd, 2010. They have since lightly toured the Midwest on support of strong reviews the album has received. The group's second collection released in March of 2011, and is an EP entitled Empty Rooms. A lengthy, U.S. coast-to-coast “acoustic” tour is currently scheduled for Jailbox, ranging from late May to mid-September, '11. Following their departure, the later months of 2011 will hold the second full-length release by Jailbox.
