Who is this manic Master of Ceremonies who openly confesses to the two grand black bohemians said to be lunatic Sun Ra and George Clinton, and whose stagings certainly remind us of a young Herman Sonny Blount and his Solar Arkestra? KING KHAN, a tongue-in-cheek retro revivalist channeling the 13th Floor Elevators...a Hindu James Brown fronting a dangerously funky garage rock/show band hybrid...a man who spews musical voodoo on par w/ the late, great Screamin' Jay Hawkins...KING KHAN is all that and more. Hailing from Montreal, he had his start in band The Spaceshits, but gained notoriety for his time in The King Khan & BBQ Show. He moved to Berlin, Germany in 1999 and formed The Shrines. Their THREE HAIRS AND YOUR MINE debut LP was released in 2002. It was followed by MR. SUPERNATURAL in 2004 and WHAT IS?! in 2007. This album Retains the funky, horn-laden ethos of the band with a garage rock twist, this album is painfully authentic sounding in it's raw production. Doors at 8pm. $10 in advance! all ages.
