A SILENT FILM

Every now & again a band comes along that magnifies memories you want to hold onto and takes you places you always want to be.

Widescreen. Refined. Bold. Delicate & honest. A Silent Film are a rock band from Oxford, England.

Debut record The City That Sleeps' released in the US earlier this year, continues to make exciting waves across the country with lead single 'You Will Leave A Mark' topping national radio most requested playlists, picking up first place at the Sirius Alt Nation awards for 'Best In Studio Performance' & No. 4 'Song of the Year' only behind Mumford & Sons, The Black Keys & Vampire Weekend. The song was downloaded a massive 110,000 times as part of the iTunes Discovery Download and Linkin Park even featured the band on their iTunes Celebrity Playlist. Appearances at SXSW, a triumphant headline performance with Biffy Clyro for Philadelphia's Radio 104.5 Summer Block Party series and tours & shows with The Smashing Pumpkins, Fitz & The Tantrums, The Temper Trap, Sleigh Bells & Civil Twilight as well as performing at the UK's Glasonbury festival, by invitation of the BBC and appearances at Portugal's huge Mares Vivas & Optimus Alive festivals where the bands' debut single and album releases entered the charts there at numbers 1 and 3 respectively. Multiple syncs on MTV's “The Hills”, “The Hard Times of R J Berger”, “Investigation Discovery” and an appearance on the 'Rockband' video game are all firing the buzz surrounding the band and their latest single 'Driven By Their Beating Hearts', which continues to make giant leaps forward with radio stations all over the States A-listing the song once again. The band continue to tour The City That Sleeps throughout the summer whilst also starting to write for their second record, due out later in 2011.
