"Knitting, mittens, winter and red cheeks: welcome in Tricot machine’s universe. Catherine Leduc and Matthieu Beaumont form Tricot machine, this duo from Trois-Rivières in Quebec. For their first record the duo worked with Daniel Beaumont, Matthieu’s brother, and David Brunet (close collaborator of Daniel Boucher and Yann Perreau). Daniel’s literally skills were rewarded in 2005 at Petite-Vallée Festival in the “best songwriter” category. He wrote most of the lyrics on the album. Matthieu won in the “best compositor” at the same festival the following year. Since the release of their first record on March 20th 2007, songs have played on campus radio all over Quebec and on major national and commercial radios. The album was release on Grosse Boîte, the French version of Dare to Care Records. In 2007, Tricot machine won the awards for Best new artist and Best Folk album at the GAMIQ (Gala de l'Alternative Musicale Indépendante du Québec), they won the Prix Echo de la Chanson, presented by the SOCAN, for L’ours, the prize Dédé-Fortin, presented by the SPACQ and the Mirror award at the Summer Festival of Quebec.
