The Art Experience annual fundraiser takes place Sunday, December 6 at the Crofoot in Pontiac.

Ports O’ Call 2009 will be held from 5-8:30 p.m. at the popular downtown venue. Scheduled events include silent and live auctions, grand raffle, food, entertainment and cash bar. Original artwork, including artist Treasure Boxes, will be available from artists in attendance.

The Art Experience Inc. is a nonprofit 501c(3) community arts studio in Pontiac, serving metro Detroit and has been recognized as a finalist for the Governor’s Award for Arts and Culture. Our mission is to provide creative and therapeutic arts experiences to people of all ages and abilities.

“This includes people with emotional, developmental and physical disabilities who continue to seek out our affordable programs,” said Judy Wilson, TAE board president. “In our studio, along with all members of the community, they have access to the power of the arts to promote wellness and qualified professionals who facilitate it.”

Each year Ports O’ Call generates a large portion of our operating budget. Fee-for-service programs, contracts with health and human service organizations such as Macomb Oakland Regional Center and Easter Seals, and private donors fund the remainder.

Silent auction closes at 7 p.m. with live auction and grand raffle to follow. Donations and sponsorships for the fundraising event are still welcome.

Advance tickets can be purchased before Dec. 1 for $25; tickets are $30 at the door.
